According to the report from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China, the employment situation is generally stable in the mainland. From January to June 2012, an increase of 6.94 million in employment population in the urban area was reported. By the end of second quarter, the unemployment population was 9.18 million, an increase of 110,000 from the first quarter.
It is reported that the supply and demand are in general balanced, with an increase in the third quarter this year compared with the same quarter in 2011. When comparing the statistics with the second quarter this year, both the demand and supply have decreased.
The labour demand on the market has increased by a population of nearly 193,000 in the third quarter of 2012, a 3.6% increase compared with the same quarter last year. The number of job seekers has increased by 287,000, 5.5% up from last year. Comparing the second and third quarter this year, the labour demand has decreased by 413,000, a decrease of 6.8% from last quarter. The number of job seekers has also decreased by 266,000, down by 4.6%.
